What We Do!

Black Outside, Inc provides a variety of programming to (re) connect youth of color to the outdoors. Our programs are crafted, influenced, and executed by a diverse team of volunteers who collectively ensure each outdoor experience is not only culturally relevant but inspires a love of the outdoors.

Our Programs

Camp Founder Girls - In the summer of 2019, Black Outside, Inc proudly resurrected America's first summer overnight camp for black girls: Camp Founder Girls which began in San Antonio, TX. Today Camp Founder Girls carries on the proud legacy of Founder Girls past by providing an immersive week-long overnight camp centered on bravery, confidence, creativity, and strength.

In the spring of 2020, Black Outside, Inc will facilitate the third annual Brotherhood Summit as an outdoor retreat.

Bloom Project aims to create a space of communal healing for youth impacted by incarceration by facilitating healing-centered outdoor experiences and culturally relevant environmental education that will help them envision new possibilities for their lives, for their communities, and for our world.

Eastside Explores  - Black Outside, Inc partners with schools on the historic eastside of San Antonio to craft day-long outdoor explorations centered on social-emotional skill development. Eastside Explores exposes students to a variety of outdoor spaces including local and state parks.
